Roethlisberger, Leftwich, or Dixon? Tomlin's Not Talking

Wondering who the Steelers will start at QB when the Detroit Lions invade Heinz Field on Saturday night? You're not alone, and that's just how Mike Tomlin likes it.

"We're going to make you come to the stadium to find out," Tomlin told the media at a Thursday morning press conference, adding a very, very minor level of intrigue to a contest that should have very little.

Whoever the starter is, Tomlin said that they'll be getting eight to 12 snaps against the Lions on Saturday. Tomlin also added that there's a chance Ben Roethlisberger may not play at all against the Lions, and did not guarantee that all four QBs would play in the game.

As for some other Steelers of note, rookie LB Jason Worilds may not play with a nagging hamstring injury, and rookie Maurkice Pouncey will get some game action at guard and center.

Rookie Antonio Brown will be used as a punt returner, rookie Emmanuel Sanders will be used as a kick returner, and incumbent Stefan Logan will be the starter in both spots. Antwaan Randle-El may or may not get a look at returner action against the Lions, Tomlin said. Also, P Daniel Sepulveda may get a shot at kicking off, a development that I find very interesting.

Not bad... for a game with pretty much zero excitement, you've (Tomlin has) created a little buzz. I'm a little bit interested to see the rookie WRs returning kicks & i'm VERY interested to see Sepulveda on kickoffs. Eventhough, no matter what anyone says. If the guy who put the ball in the air has to make a tackle, you've already failed on kick coverage. At least you might not epically fail and give up 6?

As for the QB "controversy"... i'll wrassle an alligator in the middle of liberty avenue if Leftwich isn't the starter in week 1 against ATL. Same goes for Ben's suspension not getting reduced to 4 games (whenever Goodell feels durn good 'n ready to make an annoucement)

Imagine that; Tomlin speaks a whole lotta words but says a whole lotta nothing.

He is good at using seven words when three will do.
