Pitt Lands 6'11" Center Malcolm Gilbert


Malcolm Gilbert, the 16th-ranked center in the recruiting Class of 2011 according to Scout.com, will soon become a Pitt Panther, joining a talented recruiting class that already includes three players ranked nationally in the top 30 at their respective positions.

Gilbert's verbal commitment was confirmed via text message to Zagsblog.com, as the Panther to be chose Pitt over Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Wake Forest, Virginia and Clemson. He will be playing alongside Syracuse recruit Rakeem Christmas this season at Academy Of The New Church HS in Bryn Athyn, PA. Christmas is the #1 center in the country according to Scout.

Gilbert joins a talented crop of Panthers committed for 2011, including Jaylen Bond (19th-ranked PF), PG John Johnson (27th-ranked via Rivals) and SF Durand Johnson (29th at his position via Rivals).
