ROBERT MORRIS IS IN THE DANCE

Dallas Green (no relation to the former MLB player & manager of the same name) deflected a potential game-winning shot, then nailed two free throws with seven seconds left, boosting Robert Morris to a 52-50 win at Quinnipiac in the NEC Championship Game. For the Colonials, it's their league-record seventh NEC Tournament Championship and second in a row.

Freshman Karon Abraham led "Bobby Mo" with 16 points, with Green and Russell Johnson each adding nine. James Feldeine was the high scorer for Quinnipiac with 17, but it was his three pointer that Green blocked with 10 seconds left in the game.

It was a tight contest throughout the night, as RMU did not get their first lead until there was a little more than nine minutes left in regulation. The Colonials were down 25-23 at halftime, and neither team led by more than three points in the second half.

So Robert Morris will be back in the NCAA tournament, where they went in as a 15-seed and were promptly bounced by Michigan State 77-62 last year. It was the Colonials' first tourney game since 1992, a 73-53 loss to 1-seed UCLA.

The Colonials actually led MSU last year by a count of 28-26 with six minutes left in the first half, but were gradually worn down by Tom Izzo's Spartans. Maybe this is the year that the Colonials pull an upset similar to the one that their hockey team pulled recently.

Congratulations. I saw a Bobby Mo jacket for $8.98 the other day in Philly. I may have to go pick that up.
