From time to time, I see things that I can't believe. Today is one of those days.
I've chronicled in depth the various Steeler crap that's been peddled over the past year. There's been the Cowher Auction, the various automotive eBay auctions, the Lambert cigarette...but this one easily tops them all.
It looks like Cochran Automotive, a giant auto dealership in Pittsburgh, is offering a Ben Roethlisberger model truck. Yes, it's the 2008 Ben Roethlisberger GMC Sierra, available exclusively at their GMC showrooms in Monroeville and Robinson.
The Big Ben Package Includes: Corsa Sport Exhaust, Chrome Door Handles, Chrome Mirror Caps, Chrome Grille, GM Bedliner, Tonneau Cover, Bugshield & Vent Shades, Custom Ben Roethlisberger Graphics, and Chrome 6" Side Steps.
I've seen Steeler-themed automobiles before, but never one devoted to only one player. I'm sure it would be great to drive around after a 4 TD performance in the season opener. But what happens on the days when Ben throws 4 picks? I wouldn't want to leave the house.
In 1998, I bought a GIANT Kordell Stewart autographed poster. I had it framed and matted in black and gold. I spent way too much money on it. But it was the centerpiece of my office. Everybody who came through loved it. And why wouldn't they? In 1997, the guy accounted for 32 touchdowns and took his team to the AFC Championship, in his first year as a starter.
A few years later, the Kordell poster became less of a conversation piece and more of a target of ridicule for me. Most people told me to take it down, which I eventually did. It now resides in my basement, collecting dust. Any remaining value left is in the frame. I'd have to literally cut the poster out and replace it with something else to salvage any enjoyment. So odds are, after my Kordell experience, I'm probably not going to buy a truck devoted to a quarterback. There's too many wild cards out there lurking the streets in our city. Those black and gold goggles can do damage to your brain if you wear them too much. But kudos to Cochran for pushing the envelope. If nothing else, they have a unique way of marketing their product.

I have a Hines Ward Signature Edition 2002 Ford Ranger. I didn't choose it. It just came with the signature decals on it. I get alot of questions about it. I have considered removing the decals, but never got around to it.
